Nigerian security forces have managed to capture 27 sacks of fertilizer suspected of bandits planning to mix explosives with them in Kaduna State in the north of Nigeria.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs of Kaduna, Samuel Aruwan, said that troops attacked the camp of bandit leader Lawal Kwalba after receiving intelligence in Dende area of Chikun Local Government in Kaduna state.
“The troops found batteries and 27 bags of compost… which are believed to be used to make explosives and to see their connection with the terrorists (Boko Haram),” according to Mr. Aruwan.
Similarly, the security forces found one motorcycle and two cell phones in the camp after the bandits managed to escape before the forces caught up with them.
In addition, some people were arrested in the area after the security forces continued to follow them and investigations are ongoing, according to him.
