A high court in Abuja has dismissed the case filed by the Nigerian government seeking the impeachment of Abba Kyari

A Federal High Court in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, dismissed the case filed by the Nigerian government seeking the impeachment of Abba Kyari, the Deputy Commissioner of Police who was suspended for allegedly accepting bribes from Ramon Abbas, popularly known as and Hushpuppi.
Chief Justice Inyang Ekwo rejected the appeal filed by the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on the grounds that the appeal was flawed.
In July 2021, the Nigerian Police Force suspended DCP Abba Kyari for allegedly accepting bribes from Hushpuppi – a man who is in custody in the United States on suspicion of defrauding millions of dollars.
Kyari is among the Nigerian police officers who are prominent in the fight against crime in the country, while this issue of corruption has caused controversy in parts of the country.
